Thomas Davis, in collaboration with Tokamak Energy Ltd, has joined Section III, Division 4 of the American Mechanical Society of Engineers (ASME) Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code (BPVC). Section III is responsible for designing the Rules for Construction of Nuclear Facility Components, and Division 4 specialises in Fusion Energy Devices. ASME codes and standards, publications, conferences, continuing education, and professional development programs provide a foundation for advancing technical knowledge and a safer world.
The ASME BPVC is an ASME standard that regulates the design and construction of boilers and pressure vessels. The document is written and maintained by volunteers chosen for their technical expertise. The rules constitute the requirements for the construction of Fusion facility components such as pressure vessels, piping, pressure retaining portions of structures as well as pumps, valves, heat transfer system, and support structures and confinement structures.
