Oxford Sigma has celebrated its UK Ministry of Defence Defence Employer Recognition Scheme (ERS) Gold Award at a regional ceremony hosted by the South East Reserve Forces’ and Cadets’ Association (SERFCA), marking the company’s place among a select group of employers recognised for exceptional support to the Armed Forces community.
Of the 162 organisations recognised nationally in 2026, just 20 organisations across the South East received the Ministry of Defence‘s highest employer accolade, with Oxford Sigma recognised alongside leading organisations from industry, healthcare, local government and infrastructure.
The award ceremony celebrated employers whose commitment extends beyond policy, recognising those helping veterans, Reservists and military families build successful civilian careers while strengthening the UK’s skills base, resilience and national security.
For Oxford Sigma, the recognition reflects a belief that the leadership, resilience, teamwork and problem-solving skills developed through military service make a powerful contribution to engineering innovation and the delivery of nationally important technologies.
Dr Thomas P. Davis, Chief Executive Officer of Oxford Sigma, said:
“We are proud to stand alongside organisations across the UK that champion the Armed Forces community. Veterans and Reservists bring exceptional skills, professionalism and leadership to the workplace, and this recognition reflects our commitment to ensuring those talents are welcomed, supported and valued.”
As Oxford Sigma continues to accelerate the commercialisation of fusion energy and develop advanced materials technologies that support future energy security, the company remains committed to creating opportunities for members of the Armed Forces community and promoting the principles of the Armed Forces Covenant.

About the Armed Forces Covenant
Signing of the Armed Forces Covenant is a key requirement of the ERS Awards and it is a promise that together we acknowledge and understand that those who serve or have served in the Armed Forces and their families, including the bereaved, should be treated with fairness and respect in the communities, economy, and society they serve with their lives. Its two principles are that, recognising the unique obligations of, and sacrifices made by, the Armed Forces:
- Those who serve in the Armed Forces, whether Regular or Reserve, those who have served in the past, and their families, should face no disadvantage compared to other citizens in the provision of public and commercial services.
- Special consideration is appropriate in some cases, especially for those who have given most such as the injured and the bereaved.
